What's so unique about Western Florida?
We think there is a lot to appreciate in the Florida Panhandle!

We're proud of our Blue Angels and we are home to many active military units and retired service people.

You just never know who'll drop in for a visit!

We have great restaurants and there is nothing like a picnic lunch by the water!

Our white sand beaches are visited by some of the world's most beautiful people!

A lot of famous people are from here or make this area home.  Roy Jones Jr. was champion in four weight divisions!
Here he takes part in a charity softball game.  They were reluctant to pitch to him because they only had one softball!

We have AA professional baseball!  We have a new stadium on the waterfront!

Amateur sports fly high with championship UWF, PSC and successful local high school programs.

The Univ. of West Florida has great men's and women's soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, cross country, basketball, golf and volleyball teams.

You can take a ride on the wild side at our zoo.

Our architecture will please you.  We were the first European settlement in North America and Florida's original capital.

Surfing is popular along our Emerald Coast!

Festivals, historical pageants and re-enactments are common.  Free public concerts are regular events.

The area honors Tristan de Luna who founded one of the first European settlements in North America.  It was probably the first Spanish settlement and only missed being the first European settlement by 559 years (Remember Norse explorer Leif Erikson and Vinland?  Can you guess my nationality?)   This statue is located at Tristan de Luna park.

Tall ships and historical vessels visit.  We have a special relationship with Spain but also honor all of the Five Flags that have flown over our area.  Diving is popular here.  The University of West Florida is world famous for its underwater archaeology and adventurers regularly dive to the USS Oriskany, an airdraft carrier which was purposely sunk for the sport.

The Oriskany

The Global 1200 recently visited the Port Of Pensacola's deep port.  This particular ship is a construction ship and is over 530 feet long and houses 264 people.

There is solitutude to be had.  You can usually find a quiet section of beach.

It's a good place to raise children!

The climate and soil fosters flowers.

It's a nice place to take the little one for a walk or a swim!

We're a nautical community and seafood is always available!

Wildlife is colorful...

and vigilant.

UWF will soon begin a football program.  My family is thrilled because it means my sister can finally
quit her job at the zoo.  She has 4 full years of eligibility.   We were happy and a little surprised when
we first heard she aced her SAT test.  Actually, it turned out she ate her SAT test (and the #2 pencil).
We're still proud of her and if she doesn't make the team she is well qualified to be the photographer.

Did I mention beauty?  Gulf Coast sunsets are beautiful.

Southern charm is everywhere.

A blue bayou!

Great churches abound...Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish and others serve our beliefs!

And there is so much more to our community.  We have great hospitals and literally, life saving doctors.  Citizens volunteer for all manner of community programs. World famous entertainment acts stop here.  Local musical talent seems endless.  We have an excellent ballet, symphony and opera.  We are a resort destination for tens of thousands of vacationers annually.  The Naval Air Station, and its museum, make us a leader in defense. Since the beginning of military aviation warriors have been trained in and around Pensacola.  What's so unique? Everything! This is truly an interesting and wonderful place.
